Is the worst is yet to come? Build your Covid-19 resilience now!

January is traditionally the time when many make resolutions to get fitter and healthier. With the area in Tier 4 till goodness knows when, group activities, including the Walking For Heath and RunTalkRun that I'm involved in, are suspended, and gyms and swimming pools are closed. So what can you do?

First of all, don't stall at the first hurdle! Whatever your current fitness level, don't be deterred from making that change. If you don't fancy starting Zoom-based fitness classes, there's a great alternative - get moving outdoors, where we can exercise without limit: - Walk/hike - Nordic Walking sessions - Cycle sessions - Couch to something - walk to jogging intervals - PT sessions outdoors

I can help you on a Covid-safe 121 basis with all the above.

Even better set yourself some simple targets and use a mobile phone app, such as Strava, or fitness watch to track your activities and watch the km quickly add up and notice your health and wellbeing improve!

I invested an hour a day in doing a range of really enjoyable outdoor activities in 2020 and it added up to almost 3,500km of distance and 25,000m of elevation gain. Loved every minute of it.

What about you? Well, start small and progress slowly. Consistency and persistence is key. Work up to doing 30 mins a day, 5-times per week over a couple of months, doing things you enjoy.

We are all together on the starting line for 2021. Seize the moment and do something. If you'd like to discuss how I can help you, just drop me a line. Let's get moving!

Here's to a happy and healthy 2021 for us all.
